Bargeme is the highest perched village in the Var with just seven permanent inhabitants. It is a moderate walk over the mountain from La Martre and is a frequent destination for our botanical hikes.


The verdon river flows through outstanding gorges (the 'Grand Canyon of Europe') from Castellane to the Lac de Sainte-Croix, with the Valensole plateau rising from the far shore.
